The Good, the Bad, and the Not-So-Ugly

June 19th, 2009

You’re probably wondering where Jeff aka Kuja is. In short, he’s still around, just busy.

Why No Updates?

Let me introduce myself. I am Kevin “Vcc2cc” Darcy. I was recruited onto the DPB team shortly before Alpha 2 was released. It’s sad to say that the reason for lack of updates is that we’re lacking teammates. There was a bit of an internal struggle and it seems that most of the team is too busy with real life. The original DPB team has grown quite a bit in the nearly 10 years that they started working on DPB. They are older now and some have families to take care of. Everyone sort of just split after Alpha 2 came out. But it isn’t all bad. Jeff gave me the go ahead, to contact and gather the remaining team members to start development back up on the mod. Not too long ago we started slow, and kept quiet about what we were doing. While little was being completed, we were at least moving at a slow crawl. Actually- I think its more like a baby tied to a sandbag- crawl.

What Are You Doing Now?

Like I was saying, we gathered the team and started working very slowly. Not too much later Jeff introduced Jake “Thursdae” Wesolowski to the team as a creative designer and modeler, who also dabbles in mapping as well. During this time, Jeff has appointed Jake and myself to be organizers. He’s been a bit busy and unable to totally devote all his time, so Jake and I (being so young and in shape :) ) agreed to take this opportunity and start to renew the mod and it’s community.

Why Tell Us Now?

Well, to be perfectly honest, we’re in need of a little help. Development has been slow because we’re lacking some people in certain departments. Mainly the modeling/skinning/animating department. Our aim is to get a decently successful version of DPB:S out, that’ll surpass the previous Alphas. In order to do this, we need people (or peoples) to help us create some content. Normally, we wouldn’t ask the community for too much, only to enjoy the mod and have fun. But in order for us to continue development, we are currently looking for a modeler or two, that can create paintball markers, as well as skin and/or animate for us.

I know it’s been a bumpy road. The entire DPB team feels bad for keeping you guys in the dark for so long. We’d love to make up for this by buying you all steak dinners, but we’re a poor bunch, and we only know how to make video games. But seriously. We are sorry for the lack of updates.

With all that said. We are now accepting applications for anyone who can model, skin and animate. You’ll be working on paintball markers for the most part. But there will be some props in need of modeling/skinning (or sometimes just re-skinning) as well. You can read more about the requirements for the positions below. We would very much like to again apologize for the lack of updates. And we hope that the community will forgive us, and help us in our time of need.

As previously said, we’re looking for someone who can model, skin AND animate. This simplifies the need to have multiple people working on one model. If you can do multiple of these things submit your application anyway. Please submit your application to our forums in the Help Wanted section. We are not accepting emails due to spam and security issues, sorry. Registering on the forums is quick and immediate.
